On behalf of the Parishville-Hopkinton girls' varsity soccer team I would like to thank the PHCS administration, board of Eeucation, Parishville and Hopkinton fire departments, Lamphere's Store, NuMed, Parishville Amvets Post 265, and Parishville Kunoco for assisting the team during our soccer season while participating in a tournament in Herkimer and also for supporting our trip to the New York State Class D Final Four play-off games at Cortland.
The team worked very hard this year and ended up ranked 4th in New York State for Class D girls soccer with a 16-2-3 record.
A special thank you to all the parents, families and friends who attended our games and watched the girls play in the soccer games regardless of the weather or distance they had to travel to see a game. The girls enjoyed the outstanding send off organized by the PHCS school personnel as our bus left on Friday morning, complete with the entire student body cheering and displaying posters and good luck signs.
With the huge crowd watching and with the fire trucks and sheriff car sirens blowing, the team was escorted through the streets of Parishville and down Route 72, as they were leaving for the NYS Final Four. The team also truly enjoyed the ride around town provided by the Parishville Fire Department when we won the Section X Class D Championship.
I am so proud of this community and the people in Parishville, Hopkinton and the neighboring communities as they showed tremendous support for our team throughout our great season. Your generosity and support has been truly appreciated by the entire team and coaches.
Evan Harper, Jr.
PHCS girls’ varsity head coach
