Opinion: North Country community has a big heart

To the Editor:

Thank you to all the local Veterans organizations, community groups, individuals, staff and students for making the Seaway Career & Technical Education Center’s Adopt-a-Platoon for the Holidays an overwhelming success.

Over fifty packages are being delivered to troops overseas from every branch of the service with food, games, toiletries, movies, books, blankets, and more. The outpouring of support for this project more than exceeded our expectations.

The following service organizations contributed monetarily to the project to help cover the shipping costs: American Legion Post 925 Norfolk, American Legion Post 68 Auxiliary, American Legion Post 68 Norwood, American Legion Post 79 Auxiliary Massena, Sons of the American Legion Post 420 Waddington; VFW Potsdam, VFW Canton; Colton AMVETS Post 262, Elks Club, Potsdam and What Cheer Lodge, Norwood

Our community may be small in size, but it has a big heart and when called to the task, our community steps up in a profound way. Thank you for your unwavering support of our troops and the Seaway Tech Adopt a Platoon campaign.

Best wishes for a happy holiday season,

Juddy Plumb

Seaway Tech Adopt-a-Platoon coordinator
