To the Editor,
I am completely and thoroughly disgusted, and ashamed, of the "committee" for the St. Mary's Cemetery in Potsdam. I went to put flowers at my grandparent's grave site in memory of them and found that these "people" have destroyed any and all personal effects we have left in loving memory our family members/loved ones who have passed.
They have pulled all the lights, statues, flowers, paving stones, flower borders, and even some of the Veteran markers and American flags from the majority of the gravesites.
They piled everything in back of the little stone building. They basically destroyed the stuff and left it there.
What's even more disturbing to me is that our veterans, who so deservedly earned their markers and flags have been desecrated as far as I am concerned. American flags were just thrown on the ground like trash.
If you have loved ones buried at St. Mary's cemetery in Potsdam, go look behind the little red stone building. That's probably where you'll find anything you left at their grave site.
If you're as mad about this as I am. There's a meeting at the rectory (across from St. Mary's Church) Monday night, May 23 at 7 p.m. I'll be there to ask them what right they have to take these things from us.
