Opinion: Appreciation needed for veterans who sacrificed, says Winthrop resident

I would like to thank all that appreciate what the veterans did or do for us. I shopped 7 businesses, got 15 percent at one nothing at the others and one thank you.

I will tell you that many people friends and relatives I talked to on Veterans Day got or were going for free meals. Not here.

I told one person not to worry, I got free meals for 4 years and 9 months, over 120 flight meals and many C Rations, ate on metal trays and so many were repetition, tasted like card board and dated 3 years past. You were eating home cooking, sleeping in your bed and safe many miles from the danger.

Thank you I got through it and survived so I don't need anymore free meals but a thank you would be nice.

Someone needs to set the alarm clock and wake up people to what the veteran and military does for you and show appreciation.

Branson, Missouri treats veterans 365 days and is the place to go.
