N-N Elementary’s summer rec program a success

To the Editor:

The Norwood-Norfolk Elementary School had a very successful summer recreation program again this year.

Students from the Norwood-Norfolk area participated in a fun-filled, four-week summer recreation program at the Norwood Beach. This program would not have been possible without the support of many key community organizations. Our sincere gratitude is extended to our local organizations who donated daily lunches, time and friendly conversation throughout the month of July. The organizations included the Norwood Lake Association, Lions Club, eight local churches, Artie Frego and the Norwood-Norfolk Food Service, and Pete LePage, Norwood Recreation Director. A thank you is also extended to the Class of 1990 and the Norwood Recreation Department for their contribution to the program.

Carrie French and Richard Short, who were the lead teachers, along with several high school recreation counselors, supported this effort and contributed to its success. Their leadership, organization and keen sense of “kid fun” displayed every week made this program extremely enjoyable for all of the children. The boys and girls truly enjoyed the arts, crafts, swimming, outdoor activities and daily competitions.

On behalf of the students and faculty of the Norwood-Norfolk Central School District, we are very grateful to everyone who made this program possible again this summer. We are looking forward to the continuation of this program for many years ahead.
