To the Editor:

On Sept. 9, 2012, the Massena Firefighters Local # 2220 will be holding the second annual 9/11 Run to Remember 5K Race. The purpose of the Run to Remember is to remember the victims, honor the heroes and help support a wonderful local cause. All race proceeds will benefit the Massena Firefighter’s Fitness and Safety Program.

Race day registration will start at 8am with the race starting at 9am. Our run will start at the Massena Fire Station, go up Andrews Street to Rt. 37 to Nightengale Avenue to Andrews Street again and ending back at the Massena Fire Station. After the race we will be providing refreshments and fresh fruit. We will also be awarding medals for each age group as well as youngest and oldest participants. We are asking the Massena community to come join us for this event. We are still looking for race sponsors as well as race participants. If you aren’t able to run with us, please join us and cheer our runners on.

This event wouldn’t be able to happen without the hard work and support from Mayor Jim Hidy, MPD Chief Timmy Currier and his department, NYSP Sgt. Dana Paduano and the Troopers from the Massena Station, Hassan Fayad and the Massena DPW, Tom Miller and the Massena Volunteer Fire Department and Josie Hardy from Peak Sport Solutions.

I would also like to thank Massena Savings and Loan, Curran Renewable Energy, North County Savings Bank, PEPSI of Ogdensburg, A&J Embroidery, VFW POST # 1143, Heart to Heart Fitness, Quality Inn of Massena, Deragon Property Management, Blevins Seaway Motors, Manley Insurance Agency, Jenack's Canvas Works for their donations to make this event happen. There is also a special thanks Bob and Ryne from the Daily Courier-Observer.

We look forward to seeing you on September 11. Please visit our race link at http://www.peaksportsolutions.com/9-11-run for updated information.
