Madrid resident begins write-in campaign for town justice

MADRID – A Madrid resident has announced he is running a write-in campaign for the post of town justice.

Bill Hull said he is running for the post against Anya A. Tendler of the New beginnings Party, whose name will appear on the ballot.

Hull’s announcement came in a Letter to the Editor. The text of the letter follows:

To the Editor:

Bill Hull is running for Madrid Town Justice as a write-in candidate on Nov. 6th, 2012.

My family and I landed in Madrid in 2009. We had moved to Norwood from Ravena, New York in 2002. Nancy and I have been married for 26+ years. We have four wonderful children. I have enjoyed being a member of such a beautiful small town and getting to know the people who make it a wonderful place to live & raise a family.

I was a pastor for 13 years and before that, a carpenter. The past ten years I have been here in the North Country as husband, father, general contractor and businessman. As many of the townspeople know, it has given me great satisfaction to invest in some of the properties on the village square and to be a part of the grassroots revival of this historic area.

I would like to serve in our community as Madrid Town Justice. I believe that our courts are to serve justice to the injured party, to make clear to the perpetrator the nature of their offence and to render just retribution. I also feel that the courts need to be proactive in providing avenues for both parties to receive help, not just punitive, but redemptive. My goal is to have community members find solutions to their issues.

My family has set down roots here in Madrid and plans to continue to invest in our community in any way we can.

Please give me the opportunity to serve our community by writing in my name in the box on row 10.

Bill Hull
