To the Editor:
Thank you to the Lights on the River organizers, participants, and to all who viewed the light display at Lisbon Beach in December. This gentle family entertainment is a wonderful treat.
As one of the food pantries that benefits from this event, we received $1,200 along with about 250 pounds of non-perishable foods. Our pantry serves low-income residents of the Towns of Canton, Clare, DeKalb, Hermon and Russell, providing a wide range of healthy foods twice a month. Demand for help soared in 2017, as we registered 152 NEW families/households in addition to the 200 we have been regularly serving.
Thanks to generous support from our churches, the community, businesses and colleges, we have been able to help all these people. The specific boost we received from Lights on the River will go a long way toward serving our neighbors in need. We appreciate it!
Best wishes to everyone for a safe and happy 2018.
