To the Editor:
I strongly support the Potsdam Library’s request for additional budgetary support in the June 11 referendum.
Led by the competent professional staff and dedicated volunteers, a broad range of vital services have been provided to the residents of our area.
Much of this progress has been funded by grants, carefully researched and monitored to ensure that they complemented existing programs. Programs are for all ages and a multitude of interests that are not provided by other agencies or organizations.
The very high circulation figures, outstanding for a community our size, and the number of residents participating in these programs attest to the popularity of the services provided.
The community is far richer for the presence of the library. It should be rewarded for its success, particularly in an era when funding from state and county sources is reduced or eliminated.
I urge you all to vote yes on June 11.
