To the Editor:

Summer has come and gone, and the children have returned to school, much to the delight of mothers everywhere! Having said that, now is a great time to reflect on the generosity of local businesses and civic groups who supported The Community Lunch Program for Kids in The Norwood, Norfolk and Raymondville area this summer.

Because of the generosity of the following organizations and businesses we were able to distribute a total of 8,350 meals to over 60 families with over 160 children.

Distributions of boxes of breakfast and lunch foods were held almost every two weeks throughout the summer beginning in mid- June. This program assisted families whose children benefit from the support of the free/ reduced breakfast/ lunch program during the school year, but are left without this support when school is not in session.

Our sincere thanks to Arconic of Massena, who not only gave us a very generous monetary donation, but also came and packed our 60-plus boxes twice during the summer! We are also most appreciative of the donations from The Adirondack Foundation "Adirondack Kids Grant," The Youth Philanthropy Council of the Northern New York Community Foundation, The Campaign for Human Development through the Diocese of Ogdensburg, Walmart of Massena, Bishop's Good Samaritan Fund from the Diocese of Ogdensburg, Community Bank of Norwood, St. Lawrence Gas, Corning of Canton, Parish of the Visitation and St. Raymond's Altar Rosary Society, The Parish of the Visitation and St. Raymond Summer Social FundRaiser, St. Philip's Episcopal Guild, Massena Elks, Snider, Kyriakopuslos, and Snider of Massena, Sandstone Dentistry, Fraser of Canton, Tarbell Corporation, Price Chopper, Renewal Housing of Norwood, Norwood Fire Dept., Norfolk American Legion, UMC of Raymondville, Robert J. Fregoe Amvets, and the Norwood Norfolk Teachers' Association.

We would also like to express our appreciation to Smile Associates of Canton for age appropriate toothbrushes, toothpaste and dental floss for all children in our program, Wagner's Whistle Stop, and Common Cents Thrift Shops for their donations of gently used clothing, toys and books, Maria Morrison from LIFE for donations of hundreds of children's books, Ogdensburg Correctional Facility for donations of fresh produce, and Friends of the Norwood Library for donation of a brand new paperback book for all children, and finally, Norwood Norfolk Raymondville Outreach for their distribution of school supplies for all school age children.

As you can see from the above list, The Community Lunch Program for Kids not only provides for the children of our community, but also would not be possible without the support of our local communities!

Our final distribution for 2018 will be just before Thanksgiving vacation.

Thank you so much! We couldn't do it without you!
