Letter to the Editor:
Recently there was a Sound Off concerning the appearance of the Welcome to Potsdam signs.
I agree, they don’t represent our community well in their current condition.
This has also been a topic of discussion for the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce Town/Gown committee.
The answer to this problem is easy – replace or rework the signs.
The hard part is it will cost money. What I propose is a group of concerned citizens form a committee designed to raise the needed funds and help design the new signs.
We can start with the person who sent in the Sound Off.
There are five signs. Seems appropriate we utilize Potsdam Sandstone in some fashion.
If we can get the necessary supplies donated all we’ll need to do is raise enough money to pay for the skilled labor.
If you are interested in volunteering for the committee, or have some sandstone to donate, please contact the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce (315.274.9000).
Our new signs are just a few donations away.
