To the Editor,
After much consideration, I decided to once again become a candidate for a seat on the Potsdam Central School Board of Education. My decision was based on the recognition that children and their education continue to be a priority for me.
My eight years of Board service (2003 - 2011) were a privilege, a challenge and extremely rewarding. While the current financial crisis facing our school district may be daunting, I am confident innovative solutions an be found if we work collaboratively.
It is critical that committed, ethical and knowledgeable representatives are elected. My tenure on the Board provided me with the necessary experience through my commitment to professional development by attending conferences, workshops and Superintendent/Staff Development Dayton relevant topics including, but not limited to, budgeting, students’ rights, bullying, employees’ rights, scheduling and new teacher/principal evaluation requirements.
If elected, I would work to ensure that all children attending PCS would receive the education needed to be responsible, productive citizens, while understanding I have a fiduciary responsibility to advocate for sound financial management, which utilizes district resources effectively and efficiently.
I would appreciate your vote on Tuesday, May 15, so I may serve the students, staff and taxpayers of Potsdam Central School District.
Mary Ashley Carroll. Potsdam
