Attack on Warr’s stance politically motivated?

To the Editor:

A couple of weeks ago, some heavy criticism was leveled at Steve Warr, Village Trustee, by none other than Mike Weil, the last person in the world who should ever be critical of a government official.

Mike is best remembered as the Potsdam Village Administrator who investigated Canadian Turbines prior to building our West Hydro Dam and saw nothing wrong with all their problems and blunders up in Canada.

Neither did he see fit to make them sign a performance bond. The result---three years with an unfinished dam, plus thousands upon thousands of our tax money down the drain - so much so that we have had to take money out of our reserve fund to make payments on that project- $125,000 in August of this year alone.

Now he attacks Steve Warr for his advocacy of dissolution. No matter whether you or I approve or disapprove of dissolution, Steve ran on a platform advocating it just two years ago and won with 700 votes.

Since then, Steve has earned the reputation of being highly independent and competent, and has a keen business sense that is valued by his fellow trustees.

Mike, on the other hand, retired some time ago.

So why does he come out at this particular time and fire all those cannons at Steve?

An election perhaps, but Steve isn’t even running this time around. It would be interesting to figure out the motive. In any event, that old motto comes into play -- “Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.”
