OGDENSBURG -- Pat Courtney and Tonya Wells, registered nurses at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, were recently oncology certified for passing the exam administered by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation.
The certification, which is good for four years, is required for all nurses who work at the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center.
The certification is the formal recognition of “specialized knowledge, skills, and experience in nursing and assures the public that a nurse has completed all eligibility criteria to earn the OCN credential,” according to a release from Claxton.
At this time, there are four oncology certified nurses at the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center.
