SUNY Potsdam Presents Ed Mucenski with 2011 Leadership Through Service Award

POTSDAM -- SUNY Potsdam will recognize Potsdam resident Ed Mucenski with its 2011 Leadership Through Service Award, one of the College's highest honors, during Commencement weekend.

SUNY Potsdam established the Leadership Through Service Awards to honor those outstanding individuals who have demonstrated a commitment of service to the Potsdam community. Each year, award recipients are acknowledged for demonstrating a special contribution to the betterment of the Potsdam region through dedicated service.

Ed Mucenski is a certified public account and has a long history of significant community involvement and service. Mucenski is a partner in the accounting firm Pinto, Mucenski, Hooper, VanHouse, & Co., Certified Public Accountants, P.C., Potsdam.

He has been a member of the Canton-Potsdam Hospital Board of Directors for 24 years, and served as vice chair for a number of years before being elected chairperson in 2007. Mucenski also previously served as the chair of the board of trustees at Mater Dei College.

He joined the Rotary Club in 1987 and has served as club treasurer for many years and served as treasurer for the Rotary District 7040 Conference in 2005. He received the 2007 Paul Harris Fellow recognition by the Potsdam Rotary Club. In addition, Mucenski is the 2006 recipient of the SUNY Canton College Council's Distinguished Citizen Award. He has been involved with St. Joseph's Rehabilitation Center, St. Mary's Church, and several other community institutions.

Mucenski is a 1968 alumnus of SUNY Canton and 1971 graduate of Clarkson University. He resides in Potsdam with his wife of 36 years, Nancy. They have five children, Amy, Dennis, Patricia, Lynn and Caitlin.
