CANTON - St. Lawrence University Assistant Professor of Government Shelley McConnell has been named book review editor for the Latin American Research Review, the research journal of the Latin American Studies Association (LASA).
Published three times per year, the journal contains peer reviewed research articles and invited book review essays. It is based at McGill University in Montreal, and distributed on paper and electronically to 7,000 LASA members.
McConnell, who also teaches courses in the University's Caribbean and Latin American Studies program, worked for nine years as senior associate director of the Americas Program at The Carter Center, helping promote democracy and peace with former President Jimmy Carter and 34 other former presidents and prime ministers from the Western Hemisphere.
She is a graduate of Wellesley College, with a master's degree and Ph.D. from Stanford University.
