MASSENA -- The St. Lawrence County Council of Senior Citizens recently recognized three local seniors at the Massena Community Center.
Father John Downs of Raymondville was named senior citizen of the year.
St. Lawrence County Office for the Aging director Nancy Robert and St. Lawrence County Council of Senior Citizens president Sylvia Despaw each received recognition certificates.
Downs and Shirley Meek were also honored by the New York State Office for the Aging in Albany on May 6.
Downs, Meek and David Frary were recognized by the county Board of Legislators at their May 12 meeting.
