MASSENA -- Members of the U.S. Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (SLSDC) workforce were recently honored by SLSDC Deputy Administrator Craig Middlebrook during a recognition ceremony.

Corporation employees who have attained ‘length-of-service’ milestones for Department of Transportation (DOT) service and for Federal service were honored.

These milestones were reached between June 2016 and June 2018. Some employees have more years of federal service than DOT service because overall career service, which may include employment with other federal departments or time served in the military, is recognized for this award. Veterans comprise approximately half of the Seaway workforce.

The SLSDC is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation and is a major employer in the North Country area. The mission of the SLSDC is to serve the marine transportation industry by providing a safe, secure, reliable, efficient, and competitive deep draft international waterway, in cooperation with Canada, including performing trade development activities focused on economic development for the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway System. The work performed by SLSDC employees keeps tens of millions of tons of cargo moving throughout the Seaway System.

• Honored for five years of DOT service were Kevin Smith, Jeffrey Scharf, Carrie Rogers, Ronald McGregor, Kyle Hanley, Lee Fregoe, Kristine Condon, and Matthew Cole.

• Honored for 10 years of federal service and five years DOT service were Josef Walker, Eric Tyo, and Don LaValley

• Honored for 10 years federal service are Wayne Williams, Robert Roundpoint, and Thomas Keenan.

• Honored for 10 years of federal service and 10 years DOT service were Adam Schlicht, Jeffrey Mee, Julie Kuenzler, and Kevin Baxter.

• Honored for 15 years DOT service were Keith Ellis, James Canfield, Jeffrey Brown, Jamie Currier, and Jonathan Chapman

• Honored for 15 years federal service and 15 years DOT service were Gerald Tessier, Kyle Savage, and Jeremy Buffham

• Honored for 20 years federal service and 15 years DOT service were Russell Guynup and Michael Cox.

• Honored for 20 years federal service were Mark Thompson, James Hewitt, Shaun Dafoe, Shawn Cordwell and Keith Benham.

• Honored for 20 years federal service and 20 years DOT service were Lorraine Zender, David Sanford and Julie Barnes.

• Honored for 25 years DOT service was Randy Derouchie.

• Honored for 25 years of federal service was Randy Gilmer.

• Honored for 25 years federal service and five years DOT service was Duane Neaves.

• Honored for 25 years federal service 15 years DOT service was Roger Paradis.

• Honored for 30 years of federal service was Matthew Trego.

• Honored for 30 years of federal service and five years DOT service was Michael Howard.

• Honored for 30 years federal service and fifteen years DOT service was Nancy Alcalde.

• Honored for 30 years federal service and 30 years DOT service were Patricia White, John Matthews and Diane Baines.

• Honored for 35 years federal service was Rebecca Yackley.

• Honored for 40 years DOT service was Larry Mattison.
