POTSDAM -- Knights of Columbus District Deputy Mark McKenna and State Secretary Dr. Charlie Robinson recently presented Supreme and State Council awards to Thomas Hobbs, Grand Knight of Potsdam Msgr. J. L. Tierney Council 340.
From Supreme, the council won the Father McGivney Award for Membership growth and the Columbian Award for Service to the church, community, youth and its own members.
The Platinum Circle of Honor Award is the highest given out by the State to a council, and recognizes overall membership growth.
Hobbs said the awards are impressive considering the council was only revitalized in January, halfway through the fraternal year.
The awards were made following a Sunday morning memorial mass celebrated by Council Chaplain Msgr. Robert Aucoin and offered for deceased members of the council.
