CANTON – Potsdam, Canton, Colton-Pierrepont, Ogdensburg and Massena students placed well in St. Lawrence University’s 74th-annual Pi Mu Epsilon Interscholastic Mathematics Contest for area high schools earlier this month.
The silver medal winner was Leon Lufkin of Potsdam, and the bronze medal went to Cooper Stuntz of Canton.
Potsdam and Ogdensburg took second and third for top teams, respectively. The highest ranking team members were Cooper Stuntz of Canton and Grace Rousell of Colton-Pierrepont
Justyn McCormick of Ogdensburg was this year’s Highest Ranking Senior and recipient of the Robert G. Cromie Scholarship. The scholarship, named after a former math faculty member, is awarded to the top senior, while other scholarships are available for the top three non-seniors. Stuntz also qualified for a St. Lawrence scholarship.
Massena Central High School students Erin Morgan finished second out of the senior participants and Erin McCarthy finished fifth.
