Norwood-Norfolk Central High School selects Students of the Month

NORWOOD – The staff at Norwood-Norfolk Central School has selected senior Blake Richards, junior Luke Allen, sophomore Sydney Daniels, and freshman Madelyn Dineen as Students of the Month for September.

These students are selected for their academic achievements, integrity and leadership in the school and throughout the community:

• Madelyn Dinneen, freshman, is the daughter of Lisa Mitras and Daniel Dinneen. She enjoys running cross-country, track, and playing hockey. Madelyn recently joined Varsity Club, Spanish Club, and she is a three season athlete. She is enrolled in ADP, and honors math and science. Madelyn’s aspiration is to improve her athletic and academic skills throughout high school. She plans to continue her education after high school and run in team sports in college. Her dream is to one day work with children and to coach a cross-country team.

• Sydney Daniels, sophomore, is the daughter of Michele Cutway and Tracy Daniels. Sydney is interested in soccer, martial arts, and science. She enjoys going to school and learning as much as she can. She also enjoys spending time with family and pets. Sydney participates in soccer, track and field. She is also a member of Whiz Quiz, PAL, and Spanish Club. Sydney plans to graduate high school with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors. After high school she will pursue her interests in college.

• Luke Allen, junior, is the son of Jay and Stephanie Allen. Luke is very interested in baseball. He enjoys learning about how baseball was invented and how gloves and bats are made. He also enjoys learning about language and how language was developed. He plays baseball, basketball, and soccer. He is also a member of Prom Committee and National Honor Society. Luke plans to attend college to be a physical education teacher. He hopes to play baseball at the college level. He also hopes that he is able to capture a picture of the sun rising and sun setting in each state.

• Blake Richards, senior, is the son of Mark and Kelli Richards. Blake has a high interest in engineering, math, science, and the environment. Blake participates in Robotics and Jazz Band. He also plays soccer, hockey and golf. Upon completion of high school he plans to attend Clarkson University focusing on physical therapy with a major in either biology or chemical or biomedical engineering.

The Norwood-Norfolk PTSA solicits gift cards from local businesses for each student. The businesses that donated are the Hotel Grande and Al Smiths of Norfolk and The Hometown Café and Lobster House of Norwood.

Also, the Teacher’s Association presents the senior student of the month with a gift card to the Clarkson Bookstore.
