NICHOLVILLE -- Marine Corps Pvt. Dalton J. Lottie, son of Marcy and Lewis Lottie of Nicholville, earned the title of United States Marine after graduating Nov. 21 from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.
For 13 weeks, Lottie engaged in entry-level military training.
Training subjects included close-order drill, marksmanship with an M-16A4 rifle, physical fitness, martial arts, swimming, military history, customs and courtesies.
One week prior to graduation, Lottie passed “The Crucible,” a 54-hour final test of the recruits.
Upon completion, recruits are presented the Marine Corps emblem.
Lottie is a 20l2 graduate of St. Lawrence Central High School of Brasher Falls.
