MASSENA -- Andrew Harvey, a student at Jeet Gi Taekwondo in Massena and a senior at Massena Central School was promoted to first Dan, first-degree black belt on May 31. Jeet Gi Taekwondo Master Instructor Jonathan A. French gave the black belt test with assistance from five other martial art black belts.
Throughout the almost two-hour physically challenging exam, Andrew demonstrated the physical techniques of Tae Kwon Do, as well as demonstrating knowledge of the art's history.
"He has shown determination, work ethic, humility, respect for others, and is a phenomenal example of a Martial Art Black Belt," French wrote via email.
