MASSENA -- John Roder of Massena was recently received a 2015 Make a Difference Day award from the Seaway Valley Prevention Council.
The council cites his collecting over 1,500 lbs. of food over the summer that he gave to the Massena Community Center. They also note his work as a personal trainer at his business, The Temple.
The council says their special projects committee chose to honor Roder because they felt he exemplifies the event’s mission: “On one day each year, we want to inspire the nation to make a difference. Make A Difference Day is the largest single-day of volunteering in the country. No matter who you are or where you’re from, everyone has the power to do something that improves the life of another. Whether it’s starting a project that helps one person, or working on one that benefits a whole community, every contribution makes a difference.”
USA Weekend Magazine started Make a Difference Day in 1992.
