POTSDAM – U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Jay C. Sorensen has been appointed professor of aerospace studies at Clarkson University. Sorensen is also commander of Clarkson's Air Force ROTC detachment.
Sorensen received his bachelor of science degree in range science from Utah State University and his master's degree in information resources management from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
Sorensen has served in the Air Force for many years, most recently as communications director for the Plans, Programming, and Integration Division at the Space Innovation Development Center at Schriever Air Force Base.
He was deputy director of the 704th Communications Squadron at Arnold Air Force Base before being deployed to Iraq as deputy director of the Joint NetOps Control Center, providing communications support to the multi-national forces in Iraq.
