MASSENA –- The Friends of the Nature Center in Massena announce the 2012 Dave Corse Scholarship will be awarded to Massena High School graduating senior, Jaclyn Ryan.
Students entering college and majoring in areas of environmental education, recreation, forestry or a related area of study were invited to apply. The scholarship of $500 will be awarded at the Massena High School awards program on June 6.
Dave Corse was a long-time volunteer and advocate of the Nature Center at Robert Moses State Park in Massena. He volunteered as an environmental educator and led many programs for school groups and special interest groups at the center. He especially loved to snowshoe and teach visitors “back to the land skills” and outdoor survival. He worked for NYS Parks and the NYS DEC for more than 30 years.
The Friends of the Nature Center hope the legacy of Dave Corse will live on each year as a graduating senior chooses to make a positive impact within the area of environmental studies.
