Before coming to Clarkson, she was a teaching associate and teaching assistant at the University of Texas at Arlington. She has teaching experience in auditing, accounting principles, accounting analysis, and professionalism in accounting, Clarkson said.

Mahesh Banavar was recently hired as an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering.

He received his bachelor of engineering degree in telecommunications engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University, India, and both his master of science and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from Arizona State University, Clarkson said.

Before coming to Clarkson, Banavar was assistant research professor at Arizona State University, where his research focused on wireless sensor networks. He was also a post-doctoral research associate at ASU.

His teaching experience includes being a contributor to the Synthesis Lectures Series for Morgan and Claypool Publishers and being a lecturer in the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering at ASU. He also was a graduate and undergraduate teaching assistant, Clarkson said.

Burak Kantarci was hired as an assistant professor of electrical and computer, the school said.

He received his bachelor of science and master of science degrees in computer engineering from Istanbul Technical University, pursued his doctoral thesis study in computer engineering at the University of Ottawa and received his doctorate in computer engineering from Istanbul Technical University.

Before coming to Clarkson, Kantarci was a research fellow at the University of Ottawa. Prior to that, he was a lecturer at Istanbul Technical University and a researcher at the University of Ottawa, Clarkson said.

Melike Erol-Kantarci was hired as an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering.

She received her bachelor of science in control and computer engineering and master of science in computer engineering degrees from Istanbul Technical University. She pursued her doctorate thesis study at the University of California, Los Angeles and she received her doctorate in computer engineering from Istanbul Technical University.

Before coming to Clarkson, she was coordinator of the Smart Grid Communications Lab at the University of Ottawa. Prior to that, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Ottawa and a lecturer at Istanbul Technical University, Clarkson said.

Ioannis Mastorakos was hired as an assistant professor of mechanical and aeronautical engineering.

Mastorakos received both his bachelor’s in physics and his doctoral in engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.

Before coming to Clarkson, he was clinical assistant professor in the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Washington State University, Clarkson said.

Arthur J. Michalek was hired as an assistant professor of mechanical and aeronautical engineering.

He received his bachelor of science and master of science degrees in mechanical engineering from Clarkson, and his doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Vermont, Clarkson said.

Before coming to Clarkson, Michalek was a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Vermont, where he worked to develop experimental techniques to relate post-translational modifications to changes in conformational and mechanical properties of single molecules. Prior to that, he was a post-doctoral research associate at UVM's School of Engineering, according to Clarkson.

Shunsuke Nakao was hired as assistant professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering.

He received his bachelor of engineering degree in applied chemistry from Keio University in Japan, and his doctorate in chemical and environmental engineering from the University of California, Riverside (UCR).

Before coming to Clarkson, Nakao was a National Science Foundation Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University. His research involved aerosol hygroscopicity, cloud chemistry and biomass burning. Prior to that, he was a graduate research assistant in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at UCR. He also has experience as a teaching assistant in the Environmental Engineering Lab at UCR, Clarkson said.

Narutoshi Nakata was hired as an associate professor of civil and environmental engineering.

He received his bachelor of science and master of sciences degrees in civil engineering from Kyoto University, Japan, and his doctorate in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Narutoshi has been an assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Johns Hopkins University since 2007. Prior to that, he was a research assistant at the University of Illinois, and a research and teaching assistant at the University of Notre Dame, Clarkson said.
