POTSDAM -- Christina Xydias has been appointed assistant professor of political science at Clarkson University.

She received her bachelor of arts degree in political science from Brown University, and her master of arts and doctoral degrees in political science from Ohio State University. Her specializations are in comparative politics, women and politics, and contemporary political theory.

Before coming to Clarkson, Xydias was an assistant professor in the political science department at Susquehanna University and a visiting assistant professor at Union College.

Her research and academic interests focus on women and politics, as reflected in her dissertation “Women Representing Women?: Pathways to Substantive Representation.”

Xydias has published in peer-reviewed outlets and has several new projects underway relating to generational differences among female politicians and the framing of women’s rights in the European Parliament. She is a regular participant in national academic conferences and workshops and acts as a reviewer for professional journals.

Her honors include a year-long fellowship from Ohio State University and numerous grants to support her research and fieldwork.
