S.N. Nyeck, assistant professor of political science at Clarkson University, has been invited to attend a pan-African meeting on human sexuality, religion and equality, to be held in Durban, South Africa, Aug. 28 to 31. While there, she will deliver a presentation on “Politics, Religion and Human Sexuality,” according to Clarkson.

The meeting is sponsored by the World Council of Churches in partnership with the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

“The issue of human sexuality has become highly contentious across the globe and there must be an African conversation led by African scholars and thought leaders on this topic…so, we are delighted to invite you to participate in the creation of [a] new narrative," wrote Rev. Kapya Kaoma and Michael Adee in an invitation to Nyeck. "One goal is to bring together scholars to discuss human sexuality, religion, and equality. Another goal is to produce a special edition of the Journal of Theology for southern Africa.”

Nyeck’s research interests include entrepreneurship in the public sector, public-private partnerships, government contracting, comparative institutional and historical analysis, government spending, and public sector reform. She also examines sexuality and politics, contentious politics, law and culture, and politics and literature. Nyeck has also just completed a book manuscript on government outsourcing in Africa, according to Clarkson.
