Canton-Potsdam Hospital employees selected Kaitlyn Bush, RN and Tracy Paris-Jeffery, RN as Employees of the Month for June. Both Ms. Bush and Ms. Paris-Jeffery have been instrumental in the successful implementation and staff training of Meditech (electronic medical records and reporting) software.

In addition to her nursing responsibilities, Bush provides oversight of the ordering and clinical data entry of Meditech — an area in which her knowledge and understanding are unsurpassed at the Hospital. Bush, who joined CPH in August 2007, is described by her peers as trusted, accomplished and extremely well-informed.

Paris-Jeffery, also a nurse at the Hospital, was asked to oversee the advance directive and charge documentation areas of Meditech. Her mindfulness toward a team approach made her the clear choice to train staff and troubleshoot focus areas. She joined the Hospital in February 2009 and is describe by her peers as dedicated, tenacious and mindful.

“Kaitlyn and Tracy have been engaged with the new Meditech software for over a year, while undergoing extensive training in preparation for the January 2012 live launch,” said Cathy Schantz, MSN, RNC-OB, NEA-BC, Vice President of Patient Care Services. “They are considered respected specialists by medical staff, leaders, and colleagues alike; and present compelling and well-founded recommendations for enhanced utilization of the software,” added Schantz.

Electronic medical records helps provide a seamless link between providers and the healthcare team both on and off campus. It also functions to ensure patients receive the right medications, optimize the length of hospitalization, and decrease the risk of human errors in the delivery of healthcare.
