Canton resident Joseph "Joe" Wood, Environmental Services Supervisor, has been named employee of the month by his peers at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

Since his employment in April, 1998, his colleagues have often described him as a true mentor with all the qualities of a strong leader.

He promotes teamwork and encourages others to become actively involved in various teams and decision making opportunities, where appropriate.

"Joe makes it his personal mission to ensure patients receive the best possible health care in a clean, friendly, healing environment," said Charles Sweesy, Director of Environmental Services. "In addition to his assigned leadership responsibilities, Joe not only has a patient-first focus, he also teaches and ensures others follow the same course when providing care," continued Sweesy.

"Joe can often be found greeting visitors at the front entrance, supplying additional seating in family lounge areas, and sharing his positive, inspiring manner across campus," added Sweesy.

As employee of the month, Wood received a dish garden, a certificate, a designated parking space, and a Potsdam gift certificate.
