OGDENSBURG -- The Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a workshop for veteran entrepreneurs who would like to learn about becoming a New York State certified Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOB).
This free workshop is set for 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 26 at the Dobisky Visitor’s Center in Ogdensburg.
All state agencies and authorities have a goal of six percent of state business for companies that have their certification as an SDVOB.
Ken Williams, executive director of the Division of Service-Disabled Veterans’ Business Development, will discuss the details of the program, including certification requirements, contract opportunities, FAQs, and the benefits of certification.
The state opened a new division of the Office of General Services several years ago to certify veteran-owned businesses.
To register for the free workshop, contact Laura Pearson at the chamber office, 315-393-3620 or chamber@gisco.net.
