Vintage sled races

EDWARDS: Edwards Lions hosting vintage snowmobile races, Lions field, races begin at noon; registration is from 8-11 a.m.; info: Crystal Whitford, 315-562-8228.

Golden Bear Classic

CANTON: Golden Bear Outdoor Classic, held at the Best Western University Inn, check in starts at 9 a.m. with the tournament starting at 10 a.m., Canton Winterfest 2019 event; teams of 4, 3 players with 1 sub will participate; registration fee of $20 per team (must pre-register) some proceeds will go to the Canton Hockey Program; chili, hot chocolate and other snacks available at the clubhouse, tournament will be held outside so it is weather permitting; register: cantonchamberny@gmail.com, 315-386-8255.

Cardboard sled races

CANTON: 2nd Annual Canton Cardboard Sled Races, location to be announced (likely SUNY Canton Sledding Hill), 10 a.m.-noon, hosted by Nature Up North, Canton Winterfest 2019 event; approved materials include: cardboard, duct tape, recycled plastic bags, paint, and glue; teams or individuals are invited to enter, and each sled must carry one team member; registration and sled judging will run from 10-10:30, with the races beginning at 10:30; divisions: Youth (12 and under), Open (13 and up), Family (multi-ages) and College; sleds will be judged overall for special categories and by division for fastest time; register online: info@natureupnorth.org, provide team name, participant names and ages, and division; natureupnorth.org/events.

Snowshoeing, games, bonfire

RENSSELAER FALLS: Snowshoe with scavenger hunt and other games, then campfire with hot cider and hot chocolate. 5K Snowdash Ski/Snowshoe

MASSENA: 5K Ski/Snowshoe Fun Run at Nicandri Nature Center, 19 Robinson Bay Rd; all abilities/speeds welcome. Free equipment loans available; $10 adult/$5 kids: all funds go to Physical Therapists for Peru, a Clarkson University student work trip; 10 a.m.-1 p.m; arrive at least half hour early for equipment loans; participants entered in raffle to win prizes, including snowshoes and other outdoor gear Post race bonfire, raffle, hot drinks. Moonlight Ski/Snowshoe

MASSENA: Nighttime ski and snowshoe at Nicandri Nature Center, 19 Robinson Bay Rd; start out at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., weather dependent. Chance to hang out by warm fire between loops; open to all levels; groups are guided by staff and volunteers familiar with trails; building open for family fun and to warm up; www.massenanaturecenter.com
