Founder’s Weekend

OGDENSBURG: Founder’s Weekend July 21-22, 10 a.m., Fort La Présentation historic site; Colonial trade demonstrations, children’s muster and scavenger hunt, historic talks with Jack Frost, English Country dancing demonstrations, tomahawk throwing, land and water battle reenactments, fire starting demonstration and cartridge rolling; George Bougher presents “History of the 60th Regiment,” 11:30 a.m., Jack Frost will present a “Synopsis of the French and Indian War,” each day at 1 p.m. prior to the start of the land battles; www.fort1749.org.

Seaway Festival

OGDENSBURG: 58th annual Ogdensburg International Seaway Festival, scheduled for July 21 through 29; children’s fishing derby, huge fireworks display, antique and classic car show, carnival rides, great food, live entertainment; called “the biggest family reunion” in St. Lawrence County, the Seaway Festival traditionally draws thousands of attendees at events held throughout the week, including what organizers claim is the biggest parade in the region; celebrations of Ogdensburg’s 150th Birthday planned; full schedule at ogdensburgseawayfestival.org.

Kids Games

OGDENSBURG: Annual Kids Games sponsored by the Ogdensburg Firefighters Association, in conjunction with the Seaway Festival, 1-4 p.m., Greenbelt next to Kids Kingdom; free of charge, includes pizza, subs, drinks, helium balloons, raffle drawing for prizes; ladder truckset up to spray the kids with water if it's a nice day; sprints, one-and-two-person sack races, two-person wheelbarrow races, a water balloon fight, greased pole challenge, ring toss game; top three finishers choose from a prize pool; competitors grouped by age, 2-year-olds to 16-year-olds.

Jumanji screening

OGDENSBURG: United Helpers Employee Activity Team hosting free showing of the movie "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle," 6 p.m., Mosaic complex, 100 Ford St.; open to the public; held in conjunction with Seaway Festival; shown indoors on a large, 12-foot screen.

Ice cream, fireworks

COLTON: Higley Association's annual ice cream social and fireworks display, 7:30 p.m., Fireman's Field, Gulf Road; music until 9 p.m., fireworks at dark; Rain date: July 22; free except for any purchase of food, drinks, donations towards the fireworks are accepted at the gate.
