POTSDAM: Princeton University Professor H. Vincent Poor will speak on "Smart Grid: Energy Meets Information," 2:30 p.m. in Clarkson's Bertrand H. Snell Hall Room 213; part of the New Horizons in Engineering Distinguished Lectureship Series at Clarkson University; reception will precede lecture at 2 p.m.; free and open to the public; lregel@clarkson.edu.

Haunted Hayride

BRASHER FALLS: Annual Haunted Hayride, Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce fundraiser, 94 Leary Flint Rd.; rain or shine; non-scary rides for smaller children start at 5 p.m.; main attraction begins after dusk (approximately 7:30 p.m.), later ride is not recommended for infants and small children; $3 for those 18 years and younger and $5 for 19 and older; 315-705-8913 or 315-705-8965, or on Facebook at Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce.
