Anthropalooza

POTSDAM: Anthropalooza, festival hosted by SUNY Potsdam’s Anthropology Department; copper smelting demonstration 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in Lehman Park; Atlatl Battle from noon to 3 p.m., also in Lehman Park, between SUNY and SLU students; reception in the Charles T. Weaver Anthropology Museum, located in MacVicar Hall, from 4-5:30 p.m.; digital anthropology film festival, from 6-7:30 p.m., in the Knowles Hall Multi-Purpose Room showcasing short films made by SUNY Potsdam anthropology and archaeology students and faculty on topics like meaning and symbolism of tattoos, to the relationship between music students and their instruments, to the use of park and recreational spaces by community members, ethnic food options and food-consumption practices among students, and the experiences of commuter students; also be vlogs from students studying experimental archaeology, showing experiences with ancient cooking, brewing, cordage and toolmaking techniques; light refreshments served at each event; photo contest; free, and the public is invited to attend.

Seniors shopping trip

NORWOOD: United Methodist Church, Prospect Street, will have their “Bountiful Blessings Bazaar” Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be crafts, food, candy, handiwork, gently used and new items. Lunch will be served 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
