LOUISVILLE -- The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's Officers and wildlife staff and the Federated Sportsmen's Club of St. Lawrence County are offering youth ages 12 to through 15 the opportunity to hunt waterfowl and pheasant at the Wilson Hill Wildlife Management Area in September.
An educational day will be held at the Massena Rod & Gun Club, 155 Patterson Road, beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16.
The waterfowl hunt will take place on Saturday, Sept. 17 and the pheasant hunt will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Interested youth hunters must possess a New York State small game license and register with the Harvest Information Program.
The event is free and all equipment will be provided, if necessary.
Mentors will be on hand to assist hunters who may not be familiar with waterfowl or pheasant hunting.
Sign-up sheets are available at North Woods Outfitters, 1890 Morley-Potsdam Road, Potsdam, and St. Lawrence Archery, 217 E. Orvis St., Massena.
