POTSDAM -- Walkers and runners from all over the North Country are invited to take part in a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walkin' for Willz 5K Walk/Run to Cure Diabetes Saturday, Sept. 10.

Registration and entertainment begins at 9:30 a.m. with Cubby T. Clown & Cuddles at Ives Park. The walk will start at 11 a.m. from the gazebo and proceed to the Clarkson University Campus. The run takes the same route starting at 11:30.

For registration materials or more info, visit www.drhowlett.com, email smiles@drhowlett.com, or call all 265-5344.

This annual event has been drawing walkers and runners from all over St. Lawrence county. Individual walkers and runners, families, college and local sports teams, fraternities, sororities, and business teams are all welcome to participate.

Since 2008 over $72,420 has been raised by Walkin' for Willz for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Central NY Chapter, which serves children and adults in St. Lawrence county dealing with diabetes.

This year’s walk is being dedicated to the memory of Andrew Blaine Hass of Norfolk, who died this past March 9 at the age of 29. Andy, who worked as a chef at Al Smiths Pizzeria in Norfolk and Sergis Restaurant in Potsdam, passed away unexpectedly due to complications of juvenile diabetes.
