CANTON -- Grasse River Heritage and Nature Up North seek volunteers to monitor water quality at Heritage Park on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 9 a.m.-noon.

This hands-on volunteer sampling session will last three hours and focus on simple water-monitoring techniques.

Meet at the Heritage Park entrance in Canton at 9 a.m. and wear or bring closed-toed shoes that can get wet.

RSVP required, please contact Pete Pettengill, ppettengill@stlawu.edu.

Volunteers under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Fall’s Island at Heritage Park is one of four sites included in MOW the Grasse (Monitoring Our Water on the Grasse River), launched by Nature Up North in spring 2018.

Once collected, data will be curated and shared by Nature Up North.

Data is also submitted to the NYS DEC WAVE (Water Assessments by Volunteer Evaluators) program.
