CANTON – Two North Country artists--Gene Newman and Bob Pinkerton--will visit The TAUNY Center, 53 Main St., on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. to show their work and speak with visitors about their craft.
Wood sculptor Gene Newman, a self-taught artist, is known for his wildlife sculptures carved primarily from cherry, butternut, and maple. Lately he has been exploring creative ways to display his unique flower sculptures, which he will have on display.
Bob Pinkerton creates handmade Shaker-style boxes in his small woodworking shop in Pierrepont. He uses the traditional hard maple and white pine, as well as black cherry, black walnut, white ash, pine, and cedar.
