CANTON -- Cornell Cooperative Extension and many other farm agencies and organizations are presenting a program on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at the Extension Learning Farm in Canton to provide farmers with information on how to squeeze every last dollar out of programs that are available.
Financial Strategies for Farming Operations: Tips for Success will include representatives from the Farm Service Agency, Cornell Cooperative Extension, New York Power Authority, the Soil and Water Conservation District, St, Lawrence County Real Property Office, National Grid and a tax preparer.
The program starts at 10:30 a.m. with each speaker giving a 5-minute talk on what is available from their organization.
Afterwards there will be an open-house so farmers can ask questions and find out more about the opportunities that might work for them.
Farmers of all types are under financial stress, dealing with income that is lower than their production costs in many cases.
This program was put together to be sure farmers are taking advantage of any opportunities that are available to them.
The program is free. Registration is appreciated.
