POTSDAM -- To get the 100th anniversary of Girls Scouts going, a tea for all former members and current members over 18 is set for 2 to 4 p.m. May 1 at New Hope Community Church on Grant St., sponsored by the Raquette Valley Neighborhood of Girl Scouts.
The movement began March 12, 1912 in Savannah, Georgia, when Juliette Gordon Low, nicknamed Daisy, invited 18 girls who gathered that night to register as the first troop of American Girl Guides. 99 years later, Girl Scouts has grown to 3.7 million members.
