CANTON -- TAUNY (Traditional Arts in Upstate New York) invites SOAR members to a special behind-the-scenes look at TAUNY’s 2017-2018 research project and exhibit, “Instrumental Stories,” with curator and TAUNY Director of Research and Programs, Camilla Ammirati.
The program will take place on Tuesday, March 13, from 1-2:30 p.m. at The TAUNY Center.
TAUNY’s current exhibit focuses on the making and keeping of folk instruments in the North Country and will be on view through Oct. 27.
From fiddles to guitars, dulcimers to der-ders, instruments reveal the many ways people connect to North Country traditions, whether through crafting, playing, or holding onto an instrument that’s come down through a family.
Participants in this program will learn about these instruments and their stories through discussion, field recording and video samples, and a live demonstration of selected instruments.
