Swe-kat-si Chapter of the NSDAR to offer workshop on writing family stories May 11 in Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG -- The Swe-kat-si Chapter NSDAR will be offering a workshop by Elizabeth Mauk “Writing Your Family Stories” on May 11 at the Ogdensburg Public Library from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Participants will receive a composition notebook with writing utensils, learn techniques on writing family stories and have a chance to share their stories.

Historian Linda Marshall will give a brief tour of the library’s history room, followed by a light catered lunch.

This workshop is open to anyone interested in family stories and genealogy.

Mauk has taught this workshop over the past 15 years in Texas and in Massena.

The workshop is limited to 12 participants.

The cost is $10, which covers all expenses.

People should write a check payable to Swe-kat-si NSDAR for the $10 non-refundable registration fee and mail it to Sally Hartman P.O. Box 4, Rensselaer Falls, NY 13680.

Mauk was born in Pennsylvania and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she met her husband Vern Mauk, an arts educator and watercolorist, now a retired art teacher from Massena High School. She completed her graduate work at SUNY Potsdam and St. Lawrence University. She is certified to teach in five states, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and Colorado. She retired from the Salmon River School Distrct, where she was an English and reading instructor.
