CANTON -- SUNY Canton invites all alumni to its annual Alumni Weekend festivities on June 3-5.

The majority of events will be held on Saturday, June 4, and include academic and campus tours, the “Half-Century Luncheon” that honors the class of 1966, a tour of the St. Lawrence Power & Equipment Museum, and more.

The main event on Saturday is CantonFest, where alumni will be able to sample beer and wine from local breweries and wineries, listen to music by Double Axel, and enjoy a BBQ.

Friday activities include a gathering at Hoot Own in downtown Canton from 6 p.m. until midnight. A block party, as part of the Dairy Princess Festival, will be held downtown starting at 6 p.m. There will be entertainment, food and more.

The event kicks off on Saturday, June 4, from 7 to 8:30 a.m. with coffee and tea at Kennedy Hall and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. for a breakfast buffet and annual alumni board meeting at the Miller Campus Center in rooms 218-220.

The annual alumni 5K Walk/Run gets underway at 9 a.m. at the Roo’s House. The alumni golf scramble will be held at 9 a.m. at Partridge Run Golf Course.

Academic tour of the Miller Campus Center will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. Attendees can visit classrooms and participate in mini-courses led by SUNY Canton faculty.

From 11 a.m. to noon there will be a Roo’s House welcoming event and tours of the facility. Randy Sieminski, director of Athletics, will give an update on the NCAA Division 3 SUNY Canton Kangaroos. Tour the building and team locker rooms as well as the state-of-the-art fitness center, hockey rink, and pool!

A “Half-Century ‘Luncheon” will be served from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Miller Campus Center in Woodcock Conference Suite 212-214. The meal will honor the class of 1966

The St. Lawrence Power & Equipment Museum will offer tours from 1 to 4:30 in Madrid. At this living history museum, visitors can walk among historic buildings and see the tools of rural life. Many buildings, such as a blacksmith shop, schoolhouse, gas station and granary, have been recreated or moved to the site and restored.

The museum and grounds are handicapped accessible and have accessible restrooms. Shuttles will run continuously from Miller Campus Center to the museum.

A Bricks & Seats dedication at the Roos’ House is slated for 2:30 p.m. The SUNY Canton Alumni Association invites attendees to celebrate their connection to SUNY Canton by purchasing a brick in the alumni walkway or a seat in the ice arena. Add your name or the name of any alumnius or friend you wish to honor or remember to the beautifully designed alumni walkway or ice arena.

A tour of Miller Campus Center runs from 2 until 3 p.m. followed by beer and wine tasting at Roselle Plaza from 4 to 6 p.m. Bands, alcohol and a BBQ will follow from 5 to 9 p.m. in the plaza.

Fireworks in the plaza will be held around 9 p.m.

Things wrap up Sunday with a continental breakfast at Kennedy Hall from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and St. Lawrence County Power and Equipment Museum tours from 9 a.m. to noon in Madrid.
