CANTON -- St. Lawrence University’s annual Climate Change Forum will host two public sessions featuring speakers who will discuss global warming and renewable energy from a religious and an economic viewpoint.

The Rev. Sally Bingham will deliver the keynote speech at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, in Eben Holden. As one of the first faith leaders to recognize global warming as a core moral issue, she has mobilized thousands of religious people to put their faith into action through energy stewardship. Bingham serves as Canon for the Environment in the Episcopal Diocese of California and is the lead author of "Love God, Heal Earth" published by St. Lynn’s Press in 2009. In 2012, she was awarded the Audubon Society’s Rachel Carson Award for her environmental leadership.

Jeff Deyette will speak at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, in Eben Holden. Deyette is the assistant director of energy research and a senior energy analyst in the Climate and Energy Program at the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS). Deyette conducts analysis on the economic and environmental costs and benefits of renewable energy and energy efficiency policies. He co-authored the UCS book "Cooler, Smarter: Practical Steps for Low-Carbon Living" as well as numerous UCS reports. He has also written for various renewable energy industry publications on the consumer, employment, and environmental benefits of increasing our renewable energy use.

Climate change and its effects on the natural and human environment will be explored in a variety of discussions, presentations and exhibitions during the two-day Climate Change Forum held at St. Lawrence University.
