LAKE PLACID -- St. Lawrence NYSARC, will host the “Innovations in Services Conference” from April 22-24 at the High Peaks Resort, 2384 Saranac Ave.

A dozen presentations will be available, focusing on three tracks: services, wellness, and unique recreation options for people with disabilities.

Just a few of the highlights include: a welcoming address on "Warming Up the Workplace," given by Frank Pastisso, transitional services for young adults, sexual self-awareness, and martial arts for all abilities.

The full conference day is April 23 and gives attendees a variety of additional training options such as: psychoeducational evaluations, horsemanship 101, Applied Behavior Analysis in the classroom, geocaching, using the arts for wellness, and accessible outdoor recreation.

On April 24 the feature presentation will be given by Patrick Friman, Vice President of Behavioral Health at Boys Town and the Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. His talk, "Adolescence and Other Temporary Mental Disorders," focuses on the gap between primary medical care and referral-based clinical psychological care.

The entire package, which includes: the presentations, a room for two nights, and most of the meals, cost $225.

Registration by contacting 386-3529 by March 12.
