CANTON -- Vocal Skies will present a short concert of spooky shape note songs at Herring-Cole Hall, St. Lawrence University campus Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m.
The featured songs come from “The Sacred Harp,” a collection of old and new songs written in the American shape note tradition of a-capella, four-part harmony.
In observance of Halloween and the Day of the Dead, the singers have selected songs on the theme of death, written between the 17th and 19th centuries.
Vocal Skies is an open ensemble of singers from the Canton area who meet weekly to sing from the Sacred Harp tradition. For more information visit fasola.org or contact Hannah Harvester at hannah.harvester@gmail.com.
