POTSDAM -- Wheel-thrown pottery classes will be offered with Isaac Snell beginning Aug. 1 at the St. Lawrence County Arts Council. Ages 10-14 can attend a class from 3 to 5 p.m. and ages 14 and up can sign up for the 6 to 9 p,m. workshop.
The cost for the youth class is $97 for council members and $126 for non-members.
The cost for the teen to adult class is $126 for members and $148 for non-members.
Snell will guide students through basic skills needed for wheel throwing including clay preparation, proper wedging techniques, centering clay on the wheel, throwing outer and inner walls of a vessel, and trimming and glazing. Each student will bring home at least five finished pieces.
