SLC Arts Council to offer art classes for teens and adults in April

POTSDAM -- The St. Lawrence County Arts Council is offering drawing, painting and crafts classes for teens and adults in April in Clarkson University’s downtown Snell Hall.

Classes include:

• Watercolor Painting-Adirondack Fish, with Ashlee M. Kniskern, Monday, April 4, 7 – 8 p.m. for teens and adults, learn basic watercolor and drawing techniques while painting realistic replicas of fish of the Adirondacks. $15; bring watercolor paper, watercolor paint, and smaller tipped brushes for detail work.

• Beaded Fringe 101, with Virginia Burnett, Saturday, April 9 noon - 3 p.m., for ages 16 and up; learn a basic foundation stitch for beaded fringe that can be used on all textiles with all sorts of beads. $30 plus $10 materials fee; instruction manual and size 8o seed beads for practice included.

• Charcoal Drawing, with Dave W. Ferry, Thursdays, April 14 and 28, 6 – p.m., for teens and adults; features a unique student-created arrangement of interesting objects for still-life practice; $18 per class, plus $2 for charcoal and charcoal paper; bring interesting objects of varying geometric proportions for the still-life composition.

• Watercolor Workshop, with Roberta Paccione, Saturday, April 16, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.; students will be guided in a creative meditation exercise and then led in an exploration of watercolor techniques as they create a painting, for age 18 and up and all levels of experience; $28.
